It is with regret that we inform you that the May, 2012 Sunrise Community Balloon Race, planned for Tuscaloosa, AL has once again been cancelled. As you may know, the event had a 25 year run in Miami-Dade County, Florida and then found a new home in Tuscaloosa for 2009 and 2010.

The decision to cancel was driven by financial considerations. Frankly, we have not been able to generate the local sponsorships essential to a successful fundraising event.

Over the years, aeronauts and their respective crews, our faithful sponsors and many spectators have, through participating in the Sunrise Community Balloon Race, helped make this event both a financial and a public relations success for Sunrise. We cannot adequately express our appreciation for your loyalty and support of our work on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.

With a deep sense of gratitude for the fellowship we have shared and the friendships that have evolved, we look forward to seeing you at our next scheduled race.

In the mean time, may each of your flights be followed by soft landings.
